They bear him to his resting-place
In slow procession sweeping by;
I follow at a stranger’s space;
His kindred they, his sweetheart I.
Unchanged my gown of garish dye,
Though sable-sad is their attire;
But they stand round with griefless eye,
Whilst my regret consumes like fire!

Sometimes, when you look back on an event, you wonder how you didn’t see it coming. You’re curious as to how you could have missed the signs, why you didn’t get the hints. And then you realize that there was nothing you could have done, and it really wasn’t your fault in the first place. Some people need to make their own mistakes to learn a lesson. Take comfort in the fact that one day, down the road, people who have wronged you will look back and think “Wow, I can’t believe I let someone so amazing out of my life.”
